LETTER: Are our representatives sleeping or failing?

    Dear Editor,

In the midst of the ongoing vehicle scandal, I can’t help but wonder if our representatives are sleeping on the job or simply failing us?

As a long-time resident of the All Saints East and St. Luke community, I am deeply concerned about the neglect our area continues to face. I am calling not only on our Parliamentary Representative, Mr. Jamale Pringle, but also on Prime Minister Gaston Browne and ABLP Caretaker of community Mr. Lamin Newton, to take a serious look at the conditions we are living under.

Mr. Pringle, while you are focused on criticizing what the Prime Minister is doing, your own constituency continues to suffer from years of disregard. The Government’s much-promoted clean-up and beautification initiative seems to have bypassed us completely. The grass in Folley’s is overgrown, and roads within the Folley’s Housing Development have become nearly impassable, some now dead ends because of neglect.

Prime Minister Browne, Mr. Newton and Mr. Pringle, we are appealing to you. Why must residents wait until election season to receive the attention and basic services we deserve year-round? The Ministry of Works must also be held accountable, as our roads are in deplorable condition and continue to deteriorate without any visible plan for repair.

We are tired, tired of waiting, tired of being ignored, and tired of promises that never materialize. It’s time for all our leaders, both in Government and Opposition, to put aside the politics and start addressing the real needs of the people they were elected to serve.

    A Concerned Resident
All Saints East and St. Luke
