    Dear Antigua Newsroom,

I am writing to bring to your attention the growing challenge faced by many young adults in our country who are striving to improve their lives through education while simultaneously trying to gain meaningful employment.

Currently, I hold an associate’s degree and I’m pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree, with several years of experience within my area of studies. Despite my educational qualifications and commitment to furthering my studies, I have encountered significant difficulties finding an employer willing to give me a chance. The harsh reality is that many workplaces expect completed degrees or prior experience, leaving young adults like myself with a difficult choice: either put education on hold to work or sacrifice financial independence to continue studying.

Living on my own with the pressure of managing all my expenses has taken a serious toll on my mental health. It is a heavy burden for any young adult to bear, especially when the hope of uplifting oneself through education feels increasingly out of reach without the opportunity to gain relevant work experience.

I urge The Prime Minister office to consider policies or programs that specifically support young adults in this position—those who are eager to contribute to the workforce while still completing their education. Initiatives such as internships, apprenticeships, flexible work-study arrangements, or incentives for employers to hire young learners would make a transformative difference.

I appreciate your attention to this critical issue and hope for your leadership in creating more inclusive opportunities that empower young adults to succeed academically and professionally without having to compromise one for the other.

    Sincerely,

    Anonymous
