Antigua and Barbuda has recorded historic economic growth, with employment reaching 47,000 people and per-capita income exceeding $60,000, the highest in the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), Prime Minister Gaston Browne has announced.

Speaking on the occasion of the nation’s 44th Independence Anniversary, Mr Browne said the country’s economy has nearly doubled over the past 11 years. He credited the expansion to strategic investments across tourism, construction, services, agriculture, and digital enterprises.

“This progress is not abstract; it is personal to all of us,” the Prime Minister said. “It means bread on the table, jobs for our youth, security for families, and confidence in tomorrow.”

He added that fiscal accounts remain stable and investor confidence is strong, emphasising that economic growth has become a shared national achievement.
