The Police are appealing to members of the public to take extra precautions in securing their Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cooking gas cylinders, following recent reports of thefts in the Parham and surrounding areas.

In one incident, a cook shop in Parham was broken into between 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 30 and 6:00 a.m. on Friday, October 31, where two 100-pound gas cylinders were stolen.

In another report, a resident of Paynters discovered that two 100-pound blue gas cylinders, each valued at $175, were stolen from her property between 4:00 a.m. and 8:50 a.m. on October 31.

Officers attached to the Parham Police Station conducted several searches in the affected areas, but the stolen items have not yet been recovered.

The Police are reminding residents to:

    1. Secure gas cylinders by chaining or locking them to fixed structures.
    2. Ensure outdoor storage areas are well-lit and, where possible, monitored by surveillance cameras.
    3. Mark cylinders with identifiable symbols or initials for easy recognition if stolen.
    4. Report any suspicious activities or individuals seen loitering near residential or commercial premises.

Anyone with information that may assist in the ongoing investigations is asked to contact the Parham Police Station at 463-2060, the Criminal Investigations Department at 462-3913, or Crimestoppers at 800-TIPS (8477).

Further investigations remain ongoing into both incidents.
