Antigua and Barbuda National Olympic Committee (ABNOC) congratulates Tyra Fenton on winning double gold in the Women’s 100m and 200m and bronze in the Women’s 400m at the 2026 CARIFTA Track and Field Championships held over the Easter weekend. We also congratulate Maliek Francis and Zonique Charles on winning bronze medals in the men’s and women’s javelin respectively. Congratulations to the entire team for a superb performance and for securing a remarkable 6th place on the overall medal table.

ABNOC Secretary General, Cliff Williams believes that CARIFTA medalists represent our best prospects for future regional, continental and global success. As such, these athletes will receive targeted support to transition along the professional pathway. This support will include:

    – Mentorship and sport-specific guidance on and off the field.

    – Academic and life-skills support to ensure balanced development and preparedness for higher-level competition.

    – Structured preparation tailored for multi-sport events (regional championships, Continental Games, World Championships, Commonwealth Games and the Olympic Games), including mindset and competition-readiness training.

To strengthen this pathway, ABNOC pledges to sponsor an international methodologist to work with our coaching and development teams. The methodologist will help plot long-term athlete development plans, advise on best practices and assist in preparing these medalists for the next stages of their careers.

This commitment extends to the high achievers from CARIFTA Swimming and other cutting-edge athletes across all sports. We are proud of our athletes’ achievements and remain dedicated to providing the resources and guidance they need to excel on the world stage.
