The Antigua and Barbuda Airport Authority wishes to advise the members of the public that at around 0836 LT (1236 UTC) on Wednesday 22nd April, an arriving aircraft at the V.C. Bird International Airport experienced a communications-related emergency.
The situation was managed in accordance with the Airport’s established safety protocols and was handled safely and efficiently by our team of experts in Air Traffic Control, resulting in the safe landing of the aircraft under the watchful eye of our emergency services.
As a result, we are pleased to report that there were no significant disruptions to our operations and the VC Bird International was able to promptly return to facilitating scheduled arrivals and departures.
The Authority wishes to commend our Air Traffic Control personnel for the professionalism and vigilance they demonstrated in ensuring swift and coordinated action and the involved support provided by our entire Operations team in ensuring the safety of all involved.
