Ford Recalls 83,000 Vehicles Due to Defects

The Prices and Consumer Affairs Division is advising the public that Ford Motor Company is recalling more than 83,000 vehicles due to a headlight software defect and a faulty exhaust-gas recirculation valve that could impair visibility or cause sudden loss of power.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has identified two distinct safety hazards that pose a direct risk to motorists and pedestrians alike:

Headlight Software Defect: 35,772 vehicles may experience a malfunctioning Dynamic Bending Light software system that can turn headlights incorrectly and create glare.

Exhaust-Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve Failure: 47,804 vehicles are recalled for a defective exhaust-gas recirculation (EGR) valve that could cause sudden loss of drive power.

The recall affects vehicles of the following models:

    2025-2026: Ford Explorer

2025: Ford Bronco, Bronco Sport, Escape, Maverick, Mustang, and Ranger

    2025: Lincoln Corsair and Nautilus

Owners of recalled 2025-2026 Ford Explorers can receive a free software update either through an authorized dealership or via an “over-the-air” update.

The Division reminds the public that consumers are not required to pay for repairs related to a manufacturer’s safety recall.

Consumers may contact the Prices and Consumer Affairs Division at 462-4347, via email at consumeraffairs@ab.gov.ag or visit our website at consumeraffairs.gov.ag
