The Barbuda candidate for the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) has announced a new scholarship initiative offering 10 training opportunities for residents to pursue University of the West Indies (UWI) Global short courses.
Kendra Beazer said in a social media post that the programme is aimed at building skills and strengthening local capacity, with half of the scholarships set aside for Barbuda Council members.
“I’m pleased to announce 10 scholarships for Barbudans to pursue UWI Global Short Courses,” Beazer wrote. “5 of these scholarships are reserved for Barbuda Council Members, to strengthen our capacity as we build a Better Barbuda together.”
According to promotional material accompanying the announcement, the courses will cover areas including customer service management, entrepreneurship, financial management, human resources, project management and real estate economics.
Classes are scheduled to begin on May 25, 2026, with an application deadline of May 15, 2026. Interested applicants were directed to UWI’s local programmes page for more information and provided with a contact number.
The initiative forms part of ongoing campaign messaging around education, workforce development and community leadership in Barbuda.
