A refurbished playground in the Radio Range community is set to open this week, ABLP candidate and Education Minister Daryl Matthew said during an interview on ABS Television’s “Know Your Candidates” programme.

“Perhaps this afternoon or tomorrow, I will be having a ceremony… to open a new playground and park up in the Radio Range area,” Matthew said.

He noted that the facility had been in poor condition for several years, adding, “A park that had gotten in a state of disrepair over the last maybe five or six years.”

Matthew said the site has been upgraded with new equipment, including recreational and fitness features for residents. “We’ve just installed our outdoor gym facilities. The swing, the seesaws, and so on, they’re going on site today,” he said.

The project is expected to benefit families and young people in the area, while also providing space for broader community use.

Matthew said the initiative reflects a wider focus on improving living conditions across the constituency, stating that such projects are aimed at “improv[ing] the quality of life” for residents.

He added that similar upgrades are being pursued in other parts of St John’s Rural South as part of ongoing community development efforts.
