UPP DENIAL EXPOSES ITS OWN DECEPTION IN FABRICATED “LETTER” SCANDAL

The Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party notes the statement issued by the United Progressive Party (UPP), published in its controlled media outlet, The Observer, in response to the ABLP’s exposure of a fabricated letter and fraudulent website intended to deceive the electorate.

The UPP now claims it has “no connection” to the anonymous website mariabirdbrowne.com or to the scurrilous document published there. This hurried denial comes only after the fabrication was exposed for what it is: a deliberate political falsehood.

Yet, in the same statement, the UPP endorses the contents of the so-called letter by insisting that the allegations it contains “require answers.” It cannot credibly disown the fabrication while promoting the false claims on which it rests.

The facts are clear. The document was attributed to an entity calling itself the Caribbean Anticorruption Association. No such organisation exists. There is no record of it, no institutional presence, and no credibility. Official inquiries have also confirmed that no such letter was received by the Office of the United States Attorney General.

The anonymous website that published it conceals its ownership and carries only political attacks on the Government and leadership of Antigua and Barbuda. It is not a platform of public interest. It is a vehicle of deception.

The UPP’s latest statement does not answer these facts. Instead, it tries to shift attention and lend legitimacy to a document already exposed as fictitious.

This matter is also of concern to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs because the fabricated document improperly invokes the Office of the Attorney General of the United States. To drag a foreign government into a false political narrative is irresponsible, reckless, and harmful to Antigua and Barbuda’s international reputation.

The more the UPP leadership denies, the more it proves its unworthiness to be entrusted with the affairs of the people of Antigua and Barbuda.

This behaviour is shameful. It reflects desperation, not leadership.
