Contestants in the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) Queen Pageant are undertaking community projects across their constituencies as part of this year’s competition, with organisers highlighting a focus on service and civic engagement.

The Queen’s Committee said each delegate has been tasked with completing an initiative aimed at “giving back and making a difference right where it matters most.”

Treveisha Adams, representing St. John’s Rural West, carried out a community walk alongside Senator Michael M. Joseph, engaging residents and building connections within the constituency. She also participated in the opening of a new playground in Five Islands, describing the experience as a reminder of the importance of community spaces and shared moments.

In St. John’s City West, Mia Griffith centred her project on healthcare support. A nursing student, Griffith worked with her team to donate essential supplies to the Villa Polyclinic, contributing to the facility’s ability to provide care.

“Mia, her team, and her representative, the Honorable Gaston Browne, chose to contribute to Villa Polly Clinic because they believe that even the smallest act of service can create a meaningful impact in the lives of both patients and healthcare workers,” organisers said.

They added that the initiative reflects Griffith’s passion for helping others and her journey toward becoming a nurse. Staff at the clinic expressed gratitude for the donation, noting its value in supporting daily operations.

Meanwhile, Nakierra Martin, representing St. George, used her project to engage in campaign activities during the election season, interacting with constituents and participating in events across the community.

“Being on the campaign trail gave me a firsthand appreciation for the power of representation, meaningful dialogue, and active citizenship,” Martin said.

Organisers say the “Queens with a Purpose” initiative is designed to ensure contestants are assessed not only on presentation, but also on their ability to contribute meaningfully to their communities.

The ABLP Queen Pageant forms part of the party’s wider programme of activities, with contestants expected to continue their outreach efforts in the lead-up to the main event.
