The Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission (ABEC) has reminded the public that only registered voters with valid identification will be allowed to cast ballots in the upcoming general election.

In its latest guidance, the Commission stressed that eligibility depends on being listed on the official Register of Electors. It said registration is mandatory and cannot be waived.

Voters must also present their electoral identification card at their assigned polling station. Those without the required ID will not be permitted to vote.

All ballots must be cast in person at designated polling stations. However, limited exceptions apply. Members of the Royal Police Force, the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force, and election officials on duty may vote by proxy, once they complete the necessary application process.

ABEC said eligible individuals must appoint someone within Antigua and Barbuda to vote on their behalf under established rules.

The Commission is urging voters to confirm their registration status and ensure they have the required documents ahead of election day to avoid being turned away.
