The Ministry of Health, Wellness, Environment and Civil Service Affairs has formalized an agreement with China’s He Vision Group for the donation of eye care equipment that will support efforts to strengthen ophthalmic services in Antigua and Barbuda.

The development was confirmed during a meeting involving Minister of Health, Wellness, Environment and Civil Service Affairs, Hon. Michael Joseph; Dr. He Wei, Founder of He Vision Group; Ms. Helen Yan, Assistant to the President of He Vision Group and Director of the Social Responsibility Department; H.E. Clement Antonio, Antigua and Barbuda’s Ambassador to China; and H.E. Ian Marshall, Grenada’s Ambassador to China.

The equipment, which is currently being prepared for shipment to Antigua and Barbuda, is expected to enhance the country’s capacity to provide specialized eye care services and improve access to diagnostic and treatment options for patients.

Minister Joseph welcomed the partnership and expressed appreciation to He Vision Group for its commitment to supporting healthcare development in Antigua and Barbuda.

“This partnership represents an important step in strengthening eye care services within our healthcare system. We are grateful to He Vision Group for this generous contribution and look forward to the arrival of the equipment, which will support improved eye health outcomes for the people of Antigua and Barbuda,” Minister Joseph said.

In addition to formalizing the donation, discussions explored opportunities for future collaboration in ophthalmology, blindness prevention, medical training, and the expansion of specialized eye care services.

He Vision Group is internationally recognized for its work in ophthalmology, medical education, blindness prevention, and eye care innovation through its network of hospitals, research institutions, and training programmes.

The Ministry of Health looks forward to continued engagement with He Vision Group as both parties work toward advancing eye health services and improving access to quality healthcare for residents of Antigua and Barbuda.
