The University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus in Antigua and Barbuda will hold two graduation ceremonies Saturday, Oct. 10, with Thea LaFond Gadson and Don Rojas scheduled to receive honorary degrees.
The ceremonies, beginning at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., will be broadcast through UWItv, allowing relatives, friends and other viewers to follow the celebrations remotely.
The morning ceremony will feature graduates of the School of Business and Management. Kathalia Valentine, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Management Studies with a concentration in Entrepreneurship, will deliver the valedictory address.
LaFond Gadson will receive an honorary Doctor of Laws degree during that session.
The afternoon ceremony will celebrate graduates of the School of Health and Behavioural Sciences, the School of Humanities and Education, and the School of Science, Computing and Artificial Intelligence.
Chemique Harris-Benjamin, graduating with a Bachelor of Education in Mathematics Education, will serve as valedictorian. Rojas will receive an honorary Doctor of Letters degree.
Both ceremony times are listed in Antigua and Barbuda local time.
The Five Islands celebrations will begin a series of UWI graduation ceremonies across the region. Cave Hill in Barbados will hold its ceremonies Oct. 17, followed by St. Augustine in Trinidad and Tobago Oct. 22-24 and Mona in Jamaica Nov. 5-7.
The Global Campus will hold its virtual graduation ceremony Nov. 14 at 6 p.m. Eastern Caribbean time.
