All 53 Antigua and Barbuda students in Jamaica have been confirmed safe following the passage of Hurricane Melissa on Tuesday.
Maurice Merchant, Director of Communications and Coordinator of the Prime Minister’s Scholarship Programme, said the students housed at the Pegasus Hotel in Kingston were unharmed and will remain there until classes at the University of the West Indies resume on Monday.
Merchant noted that while some students in Montego Bay experienced structural damage where they were staying, none were injured.
Prime Minister Gaston Browne monitored the situation throughout the storm. “We thank God for sparing their lives and for keeping them safe,” he said.
