As police continue investigations into the fatal stabbing of Daniel Lewis in New Field, family members and members of the public are remembering the 38-year-old as a loving, respectful and hardworking man, while calling for answers into the circumstances surrounding his death.

Lewis, of Glanvilles, died following an incident at Lion’s Estate in the early hours of Monday, March 16. Police said he allegedly entered a residence where a confrontation occurred, during which he sustained a wound to the lower part of his body. Emergency personnel responded, but he was pronounced dead at about 8:38 a.m. Investigations remain ongoing.

Relatives say his death has left a deep void. One cousin described him as “a very affectionate, loving, kind, hard working man,” adding that he was known for treating others with respect and maintaining close ties with his family. She said he was originally from Giraudel and Eggleston in Dominica and later moved to Antigua, where he worked as a mechanic and built a life with his wife.

Public reaction has been swift, with many expressing shock, grief and disbelief on social media. Several described Lewis as a “quiet soul,” “a good man,” and someone who stayed out of trouble. Others extended condolences to his family, while some shared personal memories, describing him as friendly, skilled in his trade, and well respected in the community.

At the same time, questions have emerged about the circumstances of his death. Some members of the public have called for a thorough investigation, urging authorities to ensure that “justice is served” and “the truth comes out.” Others expressed concern over the account of events, with some suggesting the possibility of self-defense, while others questioned whether the full story has yet been told.

Calls for witnesses to come forward have also intensified, with some urging anyone who may have information to assist police as the investigation continues. Police have appealed to the public to contact the Criminal Investigations Department or the anonymous Crimestoppers hotline.

As tributes continue to pour in, Lewis is being remembered by loved ones and acquaintances alike by his nicknames “Dern” and “Dan,” with many saying his death has left a lasting impact on those who knew him.
