Permanent Secretary within the Ministry of Health, Wellness, the Environment, and Civil Service Affairs, Colin O’Keiffe, today conducted an official visit to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, where he met with members of the hospital’s management team to discuss ongoing operations and explore avenues for continued service improvement.
Mr. O’Keiffe was welcomed by Dr. Shivon Belle-Jarvis, Medical Director, and held discussions with several members of the leadership team, including Dr. Acheabea Dyer, Acting Director of Administration; Jacqueline JnoBaptiste, Director of Nursing; Terrecere George-Davis, Human Resource Manager; Aldin Crump, Financial Controller; Marlon Jones, Director of Operations; and RN Debbie Jeffers‐Joseph, Acting Quality Care Coordinator.
The visit included a comprehensive tour of the facility, where the Permanent Secretary observed daily operations, interacted with staff, and assessed both clinical and administrative functions. Key areas of discussion included workforce development, quality of patient care, and infrastructure enhancement needs.
Mr. O’Keiffe reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting healthcare institutions in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care and emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between the Ministry and healthcare providers.
