A committal hearing for a 24-year-old man charged in the death of a visiting Guyanese student has been pushed back as prosecutors await further direction from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Victor Ince of Lightfoot West appeared before Chief Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel, who adjourned the matter to March 18 after being told the case file is still under review.
Ince faces charges of forcible seizure and confinement and unlawful killing stemming from the May 7, 2025 death of 19-year-old Joyleen Abraham, a University of Guyana student.
Abraham was found unresponsive on a byroad linking New Winthorpes and Jabberwock and was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators allege she exited a vehicle Ince was driving. The vehicle was later seized for forensic examination before charges were filed.
