    — Popular Antiguan selector DJ Quest has been named DJ of the Year at the National Music Awards, securing the title for the second consecutive year following a period of strong performances, international exposure and a series of well-received remakes and remixes.

The award recognizes DJs who have made a significant impact on Antigua and Barbuda’s music scene over the past year, both locally and abroad.

During the ceremony, presenters noted that DJ Quest has continued to expand his reach internationally, performing in countries including France, England, Florida and French Guiana, while also representing Antigua and Barbuda throughout the wider Caribbean.

Accepting the award, DJ Quest shared a personal story about a moment in his teenage years when he considered walking away from DJing.

“I was about 15 years old… driving on the road with my mom just by OBST right there by East Bus Station and I was thinking about stopping DJing and just trying something else,” he said.

He recalled that his mother encouraged him to stay the course.

“I specifically remember my mom saying, ‘Yo, just go on easy… your time will come.’ Word for word, line for line,” he told the audience.

DJ Quest said that advice proved prophetic as he collected the award for the second year running.

“This is my second year running of winning DJ of the year, and I can’t thank you guys enough,” he said. “I appreciate the support every single time.”

The DJ also acknowledged supporters, fans and members of the cultural community who have backed his work over the years.

“I appreciate the support every single time… thank you guys so much,” he said, also expressing gratitude to event organizers and dignitaries in attendance.

Over the past year, DJ Quest has gained attention for a series of creative remakes and remixes of popular tracks, blending Caribbean sounds with international influences — a style that has helped him stand out on regional stages and in international events.

The DJ of the Year category was one of several honors presented during the National Music Awards, which celebrated artists, producers, bands and cultural contributors across Antigua and Barbuda’s music industry.

Organizers say the awards aim to highlight the creativity and influence of local talent while encouraging continued growth and innovation in the country’s music sector.
