    Martin, Prince and King Swallow Receive Lifetime Achievement Honors at National Music Awards

    Three influential figures in Antigua and Barbuda’s musical history were honored with Lifetime Achievement Awards at the National Music Awards, recognizing their enduring contributions to the country’s cultural development.

    The 2025 recipients were Junior “Jagger” Martin , Roland Prince (posthumously) and Sir Rupert “The Mighty Swallow” Philo (posthumously).

    Martin, a veteran musician and cultural contributor, was recognized for decades of involvement in Antigua and Barbuda’s music industry and his role in supporting the development of local talent.

    Two posthumous awards paid tribute to musicians whose influence continues to shape the nation’s cultural identity.

    Roland Prince , remembered for his role in Antigua’s musical evolution, was honored posthumously for his contribution to the country’s music landscape.

    A second posthumous award recognized legendary calypsonian Sir Rupert “The Mighty Swallow” Philo , widely regarded as one of the most important figures in Antiguan calypso. Philo’s decades-long career produced numerous classics and helped establish Antigua and Barbuda’s presence in the Caribbean calypso tradition.

    The Lifetime Achievement Awards formed part of the National Music Awards ceremony celebrating artists, performers, producers and cultural stakeholders whose work continues to strengthen Antigua and Barbuda’s music industry.
