Veteran entertainer Steve “Ibis the Livest” Freeland has been named MC of the Year at the National Music Awards, edging fellow nominee Mario Conner for the honor.
The award recognizes Freeland’s continued impact on the local entertainment scene, where he remains one of Antigua and Barbuda’s most recognizable and energetic masters of ceremonies.
Accepting the award, Freeland credited divine providence and the support of fans for his success.
“I want to thank God for allowing my mom and dad to meet so I can be here,” he said. “If they didn’t meet, I wouldn’t be here so I can please you people every time on the stage, every weekend.”
Freeland also acknowledged the role of supporters in helping him secure the title.
“It’s people’s choice. That means you voted, you supported, and you’re loving what I do,” he said.
The MC of the Year category was one of several awards presented during the National Music Awards ceremony celebrating performers, producers and entertainers across Antigua and Barbuda’s music industry.
