A 48-year-old Canadian woman has been remanded in custody after authorities seized more than 67 pounds of cannabis from her luggage at the airport.

Roselynee Crisostomo was intercepted by officers after arriving on Air Canada flight AC1832 from Toronto on 10 March during a joint drug interdiction operation involving the Narcotics Department, Special Services Unit, K-9 Unit and Customs Enforcement Unit.

Officials said 61 vacuum-sealed packages of cannabis were discovered inside two suitcases. The drugs are estimated to have a street value of about EC$536,000.

Crisostomo has been charged with drug trafficking, importation of cannabis, possession of cannabis, possession with intent to transfer, and being concerned in the supply of cannabis.

When she appeared before Chief Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel on Thursday, prosecutors argued successfully that she should be denied bail.

The court ruled that she posed a flight risk as she has no known ties to Antigua and Barbuda.

She was remanded into custody and is due to return to court on 13 May 2026.
