    Magnitude 3.9 Earthquake Recorded Near Antigua and St Kitts Early Thursday

    A magnitude 3.9 earthquake was recorded at 3:19 a.m. local time on Thursday, according to the UWI Seismic Research Centre’s automatic earthquake location report.

    The quake was located at latitude 17.69 north and longitude 62.25 west, at a depth of 42 kilometres.

    The SRC said the epicentre was 69 kilometres northeast of Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis; 78 kilometres northwest of St John’s, Antigua and Barbuda; and 99 kilometres north of Brades, Montserrat.

    The agency noted that the location was calculated automatically by computer algorithms and remains preliminary, meaning it could be revised after further review by SRC analysts.
