Police Investigate Fatal Traffic Collision at Crabbs

St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda, Saturday, March 28, 2026

The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal traffic collision that occurred on Crabbs Main Road on Friday evening.

At approximately 7:30 p.m. on March 27, police responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident in the vicinity of the Crabbs Economic Zone. Upon arrival, officers observed a silver Honda CR-V motor jeep that had collided with a tree off the southern side of the roadway.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the vehicle was travelling from north to south at a high rate of speed when the driver reportedly lost control and veered off the road, resulting in the collision. The vehicle reportedly overturned several times before coming to a stop.

Firefighters from the All Saints Fire Department responded to the scene and used hydraulic rescue equipment to extricate the driver, who was found unconscious.

Emergency Medical Services personnel transported him to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, where he was later pronounced dead at approximately 8:30 p.m.

The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Charles Paul Rippon of Fitches Creek.

The Police Administration extends sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased during this difficult time.

Motorists are once again reminded to exercise caution while using the nation’s roads and to adhere to all traffic laws, particularly with respect to speed limits.

    The investigation remains ongoing.
