Sports Minister Daryll Matthew has congratulated Maliek Francis and Zonique Charles following their medal-winning performances at the CARIFTA Games, describing their achievements as “a proud moment for Antigua & Barbuda.”
“Congratulations to Maliek Francis on securing BRONZE in the U20 Javelin at CARIFTA, bringing home our third medal!” Matthew said, adding that it was “a strong, focused performance that has made the nation proud.”
Francis secured bronze in the Under-20 boys’ javelin, contributing to Antigua and Barbuda’s growing medal count at the regional championships.
Matthew also praised Zonique Charles for her performance in the Under-17 girls’ javelin, where she captured silver to bring home the country’s fourth medal.
“Congratulations to Zonique Charles on securing SILVER in the U17 Javelin Throw at CARIFTA, bringing home our fourth medal!” he said, describing her effort as “an outstanding performance that has the nation beaming with pride.”
The minister’s remarks come as Antigua and Barbuda continues to build momentum at the annual regional track and field championships.
