A 30-year-old man is in stable condition at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre after suffering burns in a house fire in All Saints shortly before midnight.

The blaze destroyed a wooden home and spread to a nearby shop, leaving both structures extensively damaged as firefighters worked to contain the flames.

Emergency Medical Services took the injured man to hospital, where he is being treated for burns to his hands, described as minor overall.

The cause of the fire is not yet known, and an investigation is under way.
