A new multipurpose sports complex has been opened in Barbuda through a collaboration between the Coco Point Trust and McChesney George Secondary School, providing a dedicated space for students and young people to develop their athletic skills.

The Ministry of Sport said the facility is designed to support the growth of sports on the island by giving youth access to modern infrastructure where they can train, compete and build their abilities.

“The Coco Point Trust, in collaboration with the principal and staff of McChesney George Secondary School, has successfully brought this Multipurpose Sports Complex to life,” the ministry said in a statement.

Officials said the complex will help position young athletes to compete not only at the national level but across the region and internationally, while also encouraging broader participation in sports.

The ministry also acknowledged the contribution of sponsors, noting that their support went beyond physical infrastructure.

“Your investment is not just in infrastructure, but in the future of Barbuda’s youth and the continued growth of sports development,” the statement added.

The opening of the facility is part of ongoing efforts to expand opportunities for youth development through sport in Antigua and Barbuda.
