The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Antigua and Barbuda has announced that applications are now open for a regional internship programme offered by the Agency for the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons in Latin America and the Caribbean, targeting young professionals across the Caribbean.

The Ministry said the programme is open to young diplomats, early-career professionals, and graduate or postgraduate students, and is designed to provide practical, on-the-job training in international relations, international law, political science, translation, and information technology.

The five-month internship will run from July 1 to November 27, 2026, in Mexico City. Selected candidates will receive a monthly allowance of US$1,200 and round-trip airfare. However, interns will be responsible for securing their own accommodation, meeting immigration requirements set by the Mexican government, and obtaining medical insurance coverage.

According to OPANAL, the programme forms part of broader efforts to strengthen engagement with Caribbean Community (CARICOM) member states and to support education in nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation.

Interested applicants must submit their documents via email to Alyssa.Weste@ab.gov.ag, with Claxton.Duberry@ab.gov.ag copied, by June 4, 2026.

Applications must include a curriculum vitae (maximum two pages), a statement of purpose (maximum one page), certified copies of university transcripts, a letter of endorsement from the applicant’s academic institution or Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and proof of enrollment in a health insurance plan.

Interns will be expected to assist with research, report writing, translation, meeting preparation, and documentation management during the programme.

The Ministry encouraged qualified candidates to review the full terms and conditions outlined in the official OPANAL internship document before applying.
