    E. P. Chet Greene says new Wi-Fi zones across St. Paul’s will anchor efforts to expand digital access and create opportunities for young people, as he outlined a broader technology and training agenda during a community meeting.

Greene told constituents that three Wi-Fi zones are being established within the constituency to improve connectivity and support learning, entrepreneurship and skills development.

“There are three Wi-Fi zones… the intention here is to have our young people really see our new technology and become not just users of technology but creators,” he said.

He said the initiative is part of a wider focus on youth empowerment, describing 2026 as a pivotal period for investing in young people and preparing them for a changing economy.

“This year, 2026… is a year of youth not only in culture, it’s a year of youth in education, it’s a year of youth in promotion of their skills,” Greene said.

The foreign affairs minister also urged residents to embrace technology as a tool for income generation and business development.

“Everyone with a phone in their hands can use their phone to make money… to do their business,” he said.

Alongside expanded connectivity, Greene pointed to ongoing and planned training programmes aimed at equipping young people with practical skills in areas such as media, broadcasting and digital services.

“We will be having a lot of training programs for young people… as we encourage the use of technology,” he said.

The initiatives are part of a broader push to prepare the next generation for participation in the digital economy, with Greene indicating that further programmes and community-based training will follow.

He said the aim is to ensure that young people in St. Paul’s are not left behind as technology continues to reshape economic opportunities.
