PM Announces Death of ABLP Former General Secretary Mary Claire Hurst During Swearing-In Ceremony
Prime Minister Gaston Browne moments announced the death of Mary Clare Hurst, a former General Secretary of the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP), during the swearing-in of his new Cabinet.
Browne told the audience he had just received the news, describing Hurst as a “dear friend” and a longstanding figure within the Labour Party.
He said her passing was shocking and extended condolences to her family and loved ones, noting that the party would stand in support during what he described as a difficult period.
Hurst was remembered as a committed party stalwart who played a significant role in the ABLP over the years.
