The Minister of Health, Wellness, Environment, and Civil Service Affairs, the Honourable Michael Joseph hosted a bush tea and breakfast meet-and-greet with staff at the Ministry’s headquarters as part of his commitment to fostering stronger engagement and building relationships across the organization.

The informal gathering provided an opportunity for Minister Joseph to interact with staff members in a relaxed setting and to express his appreciation for their continued service and dedication.

In his remarks, Minister Joseph explained that while he has spent much of his first month in office meeting with senior technical officers and departmental leaders to gain an understanding of the Ministry’s policies, programmes, priorities, and challenges, the Ministry’s broad and extensive portfolio means that those discussions are still ongoing. However, he noted that he could not allow another week to pass without taking the opportunity to engage directly with the wider staff complement.

The Minister emphasized that every member of staff plays an important role in advancing the Ministry’s mandate and delivering services to the people of Antigua and Barbuda. He also reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining open communication and fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.

The event featured a variety of traditional bush teas and breakfast items and created a welcoming atmosphere for meaningful interaction between the Minister and staff. Participants also enjoyed a light-hearted trivia segment, answering questions about Minister Joseph’s background, including the date of his appointment and his years of service as President of the Antigua and Barbuda Red Cross Society. Staff members had the opportunity to win prizes sponsored by Monifa St. John and Kerriann Bramble-Browne. An additional prize was presented for the best-decorated mug competition.

Minister Joseph thanked staff for the warm reception and encouraged them to continue working together in support of the Ministry’s mission to improve the health, wellness, environmental stewardship, and public service delivery throughout Antigua and Barbuda.
