Two officials from Antigua and Barbuda participated in a regional workshop aimed at strengthening the management of hazardous chemicals and waste.

J’herdine Browne, a graduate assistant with the Department of Analytical Services, and National Solid Waste Management Authority Landfill Manager Chris Winter attended the Joint Regional Training Workshop on Chemicals and Waste Multilateral Environmental Agreements in Trinidad and Tobago from July 7–10.

The four-day programme covered hazardous chemicals and waste management, environmental agreements, regional cooperation and the Globally Harmonized System for classifying and labelling chemicals.

Participants also received training in mentoring, digital learning tools and methods for sharing technical information.

The Department of Analytical Services said the training would help strengthen local expertise, improve national implementation of environmental agreements and promote cooperation among Caribbean countries.
