Jumby Bay has instructed a contractor to remove seaweed dumped near Parham after residents raised concerns about its disposal.

In a statement, the resort’s executive management said the matter was discussed with Minister of Social and Urban Transformation Rawdon Turner on Tuesday morning. The company said it acted immediately after becoming aware of the issue.

It said the contractor responsible had been directed to clear the seaweed without delay and that additional monitoring measures would be introduced to strengthen compliance with environmental standards.

Jumby Bay also acknowledged the concerns expressed by residents, saying it remained committed to protecting Antigua’s environment and maintaining positive relationships with neighbouring communities.

The statement comes after public complaints about seaweed being dumped near Parham, prompting calls for its removal and stricter environmental oversight.
