The National Hurricane Center is monitoring a tropical wave expected to move off the west coast of Africa on Monday.
An area of low pressure could form after the wave emerges over the Atlantic, with conditions marginally favourable for development.
The system has a 40% chance of becoming a tropical depression within seven days as it moves westward across the eastern and central tropical Atlantic at 15 to 20 mph.
The NHC is also monitoring two systems in the subtropical Atlantic, both of which have a low chance of development through the next seven days.
