Twelve-year-old Kaden Henry of Super Nova won the men’s overall title at the BAFA Foundation Beach Mile, held on Saturday evening at Mangroves Beach Bar, Jolly Beach Resort. He finished the one-mile course on sand in 6:42.8.

Javier Spencer (UWI Track Club) was second in 6:48.4, and Brycen Bellamy (PPF) was third in 6:50.3.

In the women’s race, Tiffany Gordon (PPF) won in 8:18.8. Bridgette Bellamy (PPF) was second in 9:03.1, and Rian Marie Bellamy (PPF) was third in 10:16.3.

Participants took part in two waves: a competitive Wave 1 at 5:15 p.m. and a relaxed, non-competitive Wave 2 at 5:45 p.m. Every finisher received a limited-edition Starfish medal for their efforts.

“It was encouraging to see runners of all ages take on the mile on Saturday evening. Twelve-year-old Kaden Henry was outstanding in winning the men’s overall title. Tiffany Gordon put in an incredible performance to take the women’s title, and all her training showed. As a father, I couldn’t be prouder to see members of my own family on the podium too. That’s what this foundation is about: getting people of every age and ability moving together,” said Nigel Bellamy, Director, BAFA Foundation.

Proceeds from entries support youth athletics through the Foundation, which runs running events and distance challenges across the Caribbean. The BAFA Beach Mile was hosted at Jolly Beach Resort and supported by sponsors Dasani, Powerade and Subway, with Dasani water provided at the finish.

BAFA Foundation is a nonprofit that uses running and walking events to promote health, wellness and community across the Caribbean, in support of UN Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-Being). Its flagship Caribbean Million Mile Challenge unites the region to log one million miles together, encouraging adherence to World Health Organization (WHO) physical activity guidelines and helping combat noncommunicable diseases such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
