Antigua and Barbuda will formally assume the Commonwealth chairmanship from Samoa during the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting scheduled for November 1–4, 2026.

Samoa’s Deputy Prime Minister, Mulipola Anarosa ‘Ale Molio’o, will lead her country’s delegation to the gathering, according to a Samoan government press release. Cabinet has approved her travel.

The handover will conclude Samoa’s tenure as Commonwealth chair, which began when it hosted CHOGM in October 2024.

Samoa became the first Pacific Small Island Developing State to host the meeting. The gathering in Apia attracted more than 3,000 delegates, including leaders from across the Commonwealth’s 56 member countries.

Mulipola recently represented Samoa at the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Group, participating in discussions on global economic and development priorities.

Held every two years, CHOGM brings Commonwealth leaders together to discuss shared challenges and priorities. The wider gathering also includes ministers and representatives of business, civil society and youth organisations.
