Dozens of workers at the Jolly Beach Resort welcomed the Antigua and Barbuda Workers’ Union back to the property, marking the Union’s first official visit since the hotel reopened more than two years ago.

The visit follows the hotel management’s recent decision to recognize the Union’s right to represent employees and participate in collective bargaining.

During the session, Union representatives heard key concerns on wages, allowances, transportation, uniforms, and other workplace matters. Workers also used the opportunity to form a negotiating team to lead discussions on their behalf.

ABWU President and Senior Industrial Relations Officer, Kem Riley confirmed that formal proposals will be developed and submitted to management shortly as the negotiation process moves forward.
