Member of Parliament for St. George, Antigua and Barbuda, Michael Freeland, has called for renewed investment in youth development following his participation in the New Winthorpes Primary School graduation ceremony last week.

Addressing the Class of 2025, Freeland congratulated the graduates and underscored the importance of education in shaping the nation’s future.

“It was my honour to celebrate with the graduating class of New Winthorpes Primary, witnessing the culmination of years of hard work by bright young minds,” he said.

During the ceremony, Freeland presented a scholarship to Salem Winston, this year’s Salutatorian, enabling him to attend Antigua Grammar School — the MP’s own alma mater.

“I know he will continue to excel and make our community proud,” Freeland said, praising Winston’s academic achievement and potential.

Freeland used the occasion to urge greater commitment to ensuring that every child in St. George has access to meaningful educational opportunities.

“Our young people deserve nothing less than our full support and investment,” he said. “Let us all redouble our commitment to supporting youth development.”

He also extended congratulations to the families and educators who helped guide the graduates, affirming his belief in the students’ potential to become future leaders.

“Their education is the foundation upon which they’ll build their dreams and contribute to our nation’s growth,” Freeland added.

Antigua and Barbuda New Winthorpes Primary School Class of 2025 is the latest group of students to complete their primary education in the St. George constituency, amid ongoing efforts to strengthen academic support at the community level.
