Jaeda Pigott has advanced to the Under-17 girls’ 800 metres final at the CARIFTA Games after finishing second in her heat in 2 minutes, 18.03 seconds.
Pigott secured automatic qualification with her performance, continuing a strong showing for Antigua and Barbuda on the track.
In other results, Lion Samuel clocked 2:07.48 in Heat 1 of the Under-17 boys’ 800 metres, while the Antigua and Barbuda Under-20 boys’ 4×100 metres relay team recorded a time of 41.85 seconds.
The relay team narrowly missed out on a place in the final, finishing just behind the British Virgin Islands, which posted 41.51 seconds.
The Antigua Barbuda Athletic Association said the performances reflected determined efforts from the team despite tough competition, as athletes continued to compete at a high level.
