Customers of the Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) are being advised to expect temporary service changes this week as the national Operation Stronghold security exercise affects access to parts of St John’s.

APUA said pedestrian access along High Street will be restricted on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., while traffic within the designated security zone will also be limited under measures implemented by the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda.

The authority also announced revised hours for its Independence Avenue Business Centre, which will open from 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday because of the exercise.

Customers can continue to make payments at all other APUA locations and inet stores, which will operate as normal. The APUA Mobile Bus will also provide customer services from the former Head Office at Cassada Gardens between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

APUA is encouraging customers to use its online portal, My inet Home, online banking services, credit unions and the My inet mobile app to pay bills and access services.

Operation Stronghold forms part of Antigua and Barbuda’s preparations for hosting the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) later this year. The exercise is testing the country’s security readiness and includes temporary road closures and restricted access in sections of the capital.

APUA thanked customers for their patience and cooperation during the exercise.
