Omarie Philip has died after spending several weeks hospitalized following a shooting on All Saints Road.

Philip was reportedly shot while working in the area and remained at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre until his death Friday morning.

He had been released from His Majesty’s Prison in November 2024 after serving more than 12 years in connection with the 2012 armed robbery at Dee’s Service Station, during which pump attendant Dorothy Prince was fatally shot.

Philip was initially sentenced to 25 years for murder, but his conviction was later reduced to manslaughter following a successful appeal.

He had been free for less than two years before he was shot.

Philip’s death marks another life lost to gun violence, with his shooting now expected to be the subject of further investigation.
