Newly appointed Honorary Consul of Antigua and Barbuda to Uganda Wilber Ndagano Rutabingwa says he will work to strengthen relations between the two countries, with a focus on trade, tourism, education and employment.
Rutabingwa thanked both governments for supporting his appointment and allowing him to present his credentials.
“I want to thank the government of Antigua and Barbuda for the appointment. But today, I really want to thank the Ugandan government for approving this and allowing me to present my credentials,” he said.
The honorary consul said Uganda could provide employment opportunities and skilled professionals, including doctors and engineers, while expanded cooperation could also support trade and education.
Rutabingwa said the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Uganda would offer another opportunity to deepen ties between the Caribbean nation and the East African country.
“CHOGM is here coming. The country is hosting CHOGM this year. It is a great opportunity,” he said.
