The National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) has been conducting on-the-ground assessments across Antigua and Barbuda following heavy rainfall on Saturday that caused hazardous conditions in several areas.
Personnel and volunteers were deployed to evaluate flood-prone zones and determine what immediate actions are needed to reduce further risks to residents.
Earlier on Sunday, a _Flash Flood Watch_ was in effect from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for Antigua, Barbuda, Montserrat, St. Kitts and Nevis, Anguilla, and the British Virgin Islands. The Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Service had warned that already saturated ground, coupled with more rain, could result in dangerous flash flooding.
While the watch has since expired, officials continue to urge caution, especially in low-lying areas where water may still be receding. Residents are advised to remain alert and report any unsafe conditions to local authorities.
