Minister of Works Maria Browne is urging the public to stop stealing traffic cones and road signs, warning that the problem is disrupting road rehabilitation efforts.

Speaking on state media, Browne said equipment often disappears within hours of being placed.

“Our cones seem to grow feet and walk away,” she said. “These are government assets and vital for public safety. Please do not interfere with them.”

To tackle the issue, the Ministry plans to introduce brightly coloured cones and signs in purple and pink, making them easier to identify if stolen.

Road works are ongoing across several communities and major highways.
