Death Announcement – Cicely Dorsett, GCM
It is with sadness we announce the passing of Cicely Helen Dorsett, GCM, former Principal Nursing Officer of Antigua and Barbuda. She leaves to mourn her children, Dr. Cleopatra Gittens and husband Austen and Dino Dorsett and his wife Merisha; her grandchildren Gabriella and Angelique Gittens and Devayo and Davian Dorsett; her siblings Ian Gore, Eileen Looby, Cecil Mellanson, Vanda Mellanson-Ross, Kennedy Mellanson all residing in the USA, Athelstan Mellanson, Rosaline Mellanson-King, Ickford Mellanson, and Frances-Ann Mellanson and their children; her foster brothers Lincoln and Eddie Thomas. She was related to the Hectors of Newfield including, Ruthlyn, Idona, Etson, Noel, Marcus, Wilma, Vivianne Samuel and their children; the Sempers of Bethesda and England; Joan Semper-Hunkins in England; the children of the late Steadman Semper; the Mellanson’s of Falmouth, to include Nellie Martin, Gilbert Mellanson and Elaine Cools-Latigue and their children; Florel Spencer and her children; Bernette Gonsalves and Ravi Gonsalves; the Joseph’s of lower Newgate street including, Padget (Pal) Joseph, Holly Peters, Cicely Daniel and their children; the children and grandchildren of the late Albertine Lake, the grandchildren of the late Edna Joseph and Vermalie Constant of Willikies; the children and grandchildren of the late James Joseph; the children and grandchildren of the late Ena Anthony; the children of Curleta Ford in Barbados; the children of the late Sybil Daniel; her special cousins Hyacinth Bailey, Isa Donowa, Joycelyn King and their children; the Ashtermans and the Francis’ of Potters. She also leaves to mourn her friends Daisy Dorsett, Charmaine Hackett, Nathaniel “Paddy” James, Aimey Ramsey, and Mrs Catherine Merchant. Left to mourn are the very special group of nurses who called her mother and the entire nursing fraternity; the members of the Antigua and Barbuda Medical Council. She was a member of the Order of St. Luke of St. John’s Cathedral. The Funeral service for the late Cicely Helen Dorsett will be held on Wednesday 6th August at 1;30pm at the St. John’s Anglican Cathedral. Burial at the St. Philip’s Anglican Church Cemetery.
