Prime Minister Gaston Browne says Antigua and Barbuda could see a sharp decline in crime within the next year as the government rolls out a series of high-tech surveillance and intelligence initiatives.

Speaking on the _Browne and Browne Show_ on Pointe FM, Browne said the administration is investing in a new **national camera system** featuring more than 200 surveillance cameras to be installed in strategic locations across the country.

“You’re going to see a significant reduction in crime and violence within the next year because of some of the things that we’re doing now,” Browne said. “We’re acquiring a camera system with over 200 cameras. We’re going to put some of those cameras in strategic areas so we can pick up the vehicle numbers.”

The prime minister also revealed that the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force (ABDF) has developed an advanced **intelligence and radar network** capable of monitoring movements across both Antigua and Barbuda, including maritime areas.

“They can see a boat underwater docking at Jolly Harbour or St. John’s,” Browne said. “Even the criminals are going to find it very hard to commit criminal activities like these robberies and so on without getting caught. Mark my word.”

Browne said the combination of increased surveillance, improved coordination between the police and Defence Force, and greater use of technology will make it more difficult for criminal elements to operate undetected.

The initiative is part of a broader national security strategy aimed at strengthening law enforcement capabilities while promoting public confidence in the justice system.
