Hurricane Melissa has swept through the Caribbean, leaving widespread damage and casualties in its wake, and is now moving toward Bermuda, which remains under a Hurricane Warning.

As of 08:00 EDT (12:00 UTC) on Thursday, October 30, 2025, the Category 2 storm was located near 26.8°N, 72.7°W – about 605 miles southwest of Bermuda and 295 miles northeast of the central Bahamas. Melissa is moving north-northeast at 21 mph (33 km/h), with maximum sustained winds of 105 mph (165 km/h) and a minimum central pressure of 965 millibars.

Authorities in Bermuda have urged residents to complete preparations immediately, warning that tropical-storm-force winds are expected later today, along with heavy rain and dangerous surf.

Across the Caribbean, Melissa caused significant flooding, structural damage, and widespread power outages. Emergency services continue to respond, assessing casualties and providing aid to affected communities.

Meteorologists have warned that the hurricane could intensify as it approaches Bermuda, increasing the potential for severe impacts. Residents are urged to follow official guidance and secure property.
