The police are investigating a burglary that occurred in the early hours of October 2 at an apartment in Cassada Gardens.

Reports indicate that around 2:30 a.m., a woman was awakened by her boyfriend who told her that an intruder was locked inside the bathroom. Moments later, the suspect was seen escaping through a window on the eastern side of the apartment.

After the intruder left, the woman discovered that an undisclosed sum of money was missing from her handbag. Investigations suggest the intruder gained access to the apartment by climbing to the second floor and forcing open a bedroom window.

The police are also investigating another incident in which a restaurant and bar in Willoughby Bay was broken into and thieves made off with several items, including cash.

    The break-in reportedly occurred between 10:30 p.m. on October 22 and 11:15 a.m. on October 23.

Further reports are that the suspects forced open a door using a hard instrument to gain entry into the business.

Stolen items include cases of beer, a Wi-Fi box, several bottles of assorted alcoholic beverages, and an undisclosed sum of US currency from the cash register. Three 100-pound gas cylinders were also taken from the southern side of the building, according to reports.

Reports are that the police searched the surrounding areas for the stolen items, however, none of the items were recovered.
