The Antigua Public Utilities Authority has reported a drop in water production at three of its desalination facilities following separate technical setbacks.

The Crabbs plant is dealing with electrical faults, while equipment failures have disrupted operations at the Ivan Rodrigues facility. At Fort James, rough sea conditions have forced one of the plant’s units out of service.

Residents who rely on these systems could see alterations to their regular supply, including reduced flow times or extended intervals between deliveries.

APUA said repair crews are working to correct the problems and are monitoring output levels. In the meantime, customers are being encouraged to conserve water and keep emergency reserves where possible.

The authority said it appreciates the public’s cooperation as efforts continue to stabilise production.
