    Department of Culture Announces Return of National Secondary Schools Theatre Festival

    The Department of Culture, under the umbrella of the Ministry of Education, Sports and Creative industries, announces the staging of the 2026 National Secondary Schools Theatre Festival.

    The highly anticipated national event from 13th – 18th April, 2026, will bring together the creative brilliance of Antigua and Barbuda’s youth, who will represent ten (10) secondary schools in the dance component and six (6) secondary schools in the drama component of the festival.

    This year’s event promises to be a vibrant showcase of storytelling, movement, culture and innovation as students take to the stage to demonstrate artistic excellence, youth expression, discipline, collaboration and cultural pride.

    As the Government of Antigua and Barbuda continues to expand opportunities through the creative industries sector, organizers are confident that events such as the National Secondary Schools Theatre Festival will serve as a launching pad for future actors, playwrights. Choreographers, directors, educators and cultural ambassadors.

    Members of the general public are encouraged to support the festival by attending all of the activities.
